Testimonials

“Quiltventure runs great tours. I joined the team for the trip to Canada and the US.  The itinerary was excellent.  We visited very interesting and spectacular places. The tour group was very friendly. Michelle and Helen were wonderful tour guides making sure everything ran smoothly for all of us. So glad I chose Quiltventure.”

“I have travelled twice with Quilt Venture and each time has been a wonderful experience. I’m looking forward to joining the next tour.

The hotels and restaurants were fabulous and in good locations. Our days were well well balanced between touring, free time and workshops with tutors who are expert in their field.

I feel these are luxury tours with everything well thought out and each persons comfort is a priority.

Michelle is very caring and there would never be problem that couldn’t be fixed…quickly.”

“I’ve had the privilege and pleasure of being part of the first three QuiltVenture (QV) tours organised by Michelle (2014 [US], 2016 [US], and 2018 [US and Canada]). After my first-ever organised tour many years ago, I vowed I’d never do another one in my life. But when I heard about the first QV I knew I’d have to swallow my words and give an organised tour another try. Why? Because I’ve known Michelle for ages and know how organised she is, all the while being super friendly and a joy to be around—she certainly lives life to the full! If anyone was going to organise a trip-of-a-lifetime, it was Michelle.

I’ve travelled independently to the US well over 30 times, so all the QV tours I’ve done so far have mostly covered places familiar to me. But seeing them through Michelle’s eyes, and through the eyes of others on the tours, has shown me different aspects that I may not have encountered by myself. We’ve gone places and done things that you just can’t do as an individual. Michelle’s connections in the quilting world have opened doors to experiences that others have never had—and may never be able to have—the chance of doing.

At a practical level, we’ve stayed in luxury hotels that I would never be able to justify the price of if doing it by myself (e.g. The Langham in Boston, Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi in Santa Fe, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise [lake view room] in Lake Louise, Canada, etc.). In major cities our accommodation has typically been 5-star, and never less than 4-star. In more regional areas, we often don’t have a lot of choice, but we’ve never stayed in anything less than 3-star, even if it meant staying in another town. Almost without exception, every meal we’ve had has been delicious, with lots of choices and with dietary restrictions taken into account, and we often get a private dining area for our group. The group size is never more than 25, which means we get personal attention from Michelle, and which also means that we get two seats each when we’re on a coach. All the coaches we’ve had have also been top class, with comfy seats, WiFi on the bus, toilet, air conditioning, and excellent and personable drivers for whom nothing is too much trouble. And the best thing? We don’t have to stress about driving or navigating in an unfamiliar country. Another best thing? When in the US/Canada, all tipping is included for any group activities.

But behind it all is Michelle—a powerhouse of organisation and someone with a quick wit, who can turn a potential disaster into something positive (e.g. one night we arrived at a restaurant to find it closed for the night, despite us having a booking confirmed only the week before and having paid a substantial deposit. Michelle quickly phoned around and got us into another restaurant at no notice, which may well have been better than the original!)

Would I do another QV tour? Absolutely! And so say many others, if not in words, then in repeat business—half who went on the first tour also went on the second; and half on the second went on the third. In addition to wonderful experiences, I’ve also made some wonderful friends. You can’t put a price on that.

If you get the opportunity and the QV tour itinerary fits your interests, just do it! Life’s too short.”
